There are many opportunities to get involved with WAMDA.
Legislative and Public Policy Committee
The LLPC will serve as a member of WAMDA's Executive Board. This is a great position for an individual interested in getting involved in current legislative topics pertaining to nutrition and health. Responsibilities include reporting MDA legislative activities to WAMDA board members. The LPPC will recruit board members and local dietitians to participate in legislative activities as needed, and may coordinate with MDA Legislative Committee members via meetings and/or conference calls. "If dietetics is your profession, politics is your business"
Nominating Committee
Nominating Committee consists of three members. The Nominating Committee recruits:
- Members for open WAMDA Board positions for the upcoming year
- Presents the names of persons for Recognition Awards to the board
- Orders plaques for these award recipients
- New WAMDA members
- Greets people at WAMDA meetings
Program Planning Committee
It is the goal of WAMDA program planning to provide a variety of continuing education programs to members that will enhance professional knowledge and skills needed for professional competence.
Public Relations Committee
Public Relations Chairperson (PRC) is a one year position. The PRC acts as the spokesperson for WAMDA by preparing and providing nutrition information to the public. Other responsibilities include recognizing the accomplishments and activities of WAMDA and of individual WAMDA members, writing a quarterly article spotlighting a WAMDA member, participating as a Program Planning Consultant, and maintaining a speaker list, consultant list and the WAMDA brochure.
Scholarship Committee
This committee is responsible for distributing applications, reviewing the completed applications and selecting a scholarship recipient.
