About the Speaker:

Kim Sabada received her Masters in Nutrition from Boston University. She's been a practicing Registered Dietitian since 2013 and is a Certified Diabetes Education and Care Specialist. She's the Lead Dietitian in Newton-Wellesley Hospital's Diabetes & Nutrition Clinic and is also their American Diabetes Association Coordinator. She also runs her own private practice, Revive Nutrition, where she helps women lose weight. She is also a board member of the Massachusetts Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Program Objectives

After attending this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Overview of insulin basics & common oral medications
  2. Introduce/Review newer DM medications: Explain how GPL-1, SLGT-2s your patients are taking work, their nutrition implications to consider, and expected weight loss and A1c results.
  3. Identify populations who’d benefit the most from CGM technology
  4. Evaluate CGM data for insulin:carb ratios, BG trends; Review who qualifies for CGMs and out of pocket cost
  5. Using GLP-1 medications for weight loss/pre-Diabetes; Options/coverage and how to advocate for you patients
