WAMDA Partners With The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts

25th Annual Western Area Massachusetts Dietetic Association Fitness 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair to benefit The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts was held on March 3, 2018 at Look Park in Northampton

On May 8, 2018 a group of registered dietitian/nutritionists traveled to the Food Bank to present a check for $8000, take a tour of the Food Bank, and learn about the programs that are funded by our donation.

Over the past 25 years WAMDA has donated more than $70,000 to local hunger organizations including the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.

WAMDA is a group of nutrition professionals (Registered Dietitian Nutritionists) who live and work in Western Massachusetts and are concerned about food insecurity in their communities. To improve the health and nutritional status of our patients/clients, our goal is to ensure that all people have access to healthful food.

This year the WAMDA Fitness 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair was proud to once again partner with The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts provides individuals facing hunger with the food they need to survive and leads communities towards long-term solutions to the problem of hunger in our region. Serving the four counties of Western Massachusetts, The Food Bank is the leading provider of emergency food that reaches individuals and families with lower incomes. They are committed to working with our community to reduce hunger, increase food security, and to make nutritious food affordable and accessible for all residents in our region.
