About the Speaker and the Program

Marissa Chiapperino is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator in the Community Navigation department at Holyoke Hospital. As the team Clinical Nutrition Navigator, Marissa works with Nurse Navigators and Community Health Workers to help patients meander through the health care setting and gain control of their chronic disease. Because of the link with chronic disease and obesity, Marissa's role has expanded into the new Bariatric and Weight Management center. By acting as a liaison between the Primary Care Physician and the patient, many resources and support services are provided by Marissa and the members of her team. Grocery store tours, nutrition classes, diabetes conversation mapping, food insecurity, health fairs and community presentations are just a few responsibilities Marissa has as a Clinical Nutrition Navigator.

Come learn more about this unique role and how you can advocate for this type of nutrition service in your everyday practice!
