Presentation Title: Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) Food and Agrochemical Concerns, with an update on GMO Food labeling in Massachusetts.

Ed Stockman will present the movie Genetic Roulette, which addresses the genetic engineering of crops and foods, the agrochemical used to grow GMO crops, and the potential for associated health issues. After the film Ed will discuss agrochemical contamination of the food supply, answer questions, and encourage discussion.

Ed Stockman, M.S., is a biologist, organic farmer for 41 years, and a GMO educator. He has been giving presentations throughout New England but is currently focusing his activism in Massachusetts.

Objectives

  1. Introduce participants to the fundamental concepts of genetic engineering.
  2. Educate about the agrochemical contamination of our food supply and the evidence for associated health risks.
  3. Provide a brief history of the introduction of GMO foods into our food supply.
  4. Update of the GMO food labeling initiative in Massachusetts.
